Working with Selections

1.Once you've made a selection, what area of the image can be edited?
-The area already selected.

2.How do you add to and subtract from a selection?
-Shift adds, ALT subtracts

3.How can you move a selection while you're drawing it?

-You can move the selection by choosing the move tool and clicking within the selected area.

4.When drawing a selection with the Lasso tool, how should you finish drawing the selection to ensure that itis the shape you want?

5.How does the Magic Wand tool determine which areas of an image to select? What is tolerance, and how does it affect a selection?
-The magic wand tool decides which area to select by chossing colors that are the same or similar to the color that you select.Tolerance is the amount of difference in shading that is allowed in order to still be selected. The default tolerance for the magic wand tool is 32 although you can change the tolerance setting as needed.

6.How does the Quick Selection tool work?
-The quick selection tool works by allowing you to paint large areas with color by using a large round adjustable brush.

Earliest Memory

What is your earliest childhood memory and what details do you remember about it?
It is hard to say exacly what my first childhood memory was because it seems like forever ago. A memory is something that sticks with you and, whether its relevant or not, will be remembered forever. I would have to say my first childhood memory would be when I had my first eye surgery. I think I was around 3 years old. The surgery was to correct a muscle in my eye. I have had 3 surgerys since then but this one is the most memorable because it is the first one I went through. I remember being really scared that my mom was going to leave me. I also remember waking up and the nurses telling me not to rub my eyes because they itched.

Color

What is it that makes certain wave lengths bounce off an object? Why is grass green? And blood red?
Pigment found in an object is what gives it color. The color of an object is the only color not absorbed by it. For example, grass is green because grass absorbs every color except the color wavelength for green. Blood is red for the same reason; every color is absorbed by it except the wavelength for red. This same concept applies to everything we see with color in our daily lives.

How the eye sees

When looking at something, how do you know what you are seeing? What process does your body go through to identify an object?
When looking at an object, light is either reflected off or absorbed by the object. The color that is absorbed by the object is not eeen by the human eye, but the colors that are reflected from it are. The light first passes through the cornea, then through the pupil. The lens then focuses images on the back of the eye in the retina.

The Color Red

What does the color red mean to you? What does it mean to other cultures?explain some of its different meanings.

To me the color red has no particular meaning. When first seeing red, the thing that pops in my mind is the American flag. Our country is raised to see the colors red, white, and blue in a patriotic way. The red in our flag represents the blood shed by our country to maintain its freedom and liberty.To other cultures the color red can represent various things. Although the color red is often associated with hate, anger, or death it is also seen as a color of fortune, good luck, or courage in other culutures. Because red has proven to be the color most reacted to by scientists, it is the color most often used for warning signs such as a stop sign. Red is the most comon color found on flags throughout the world, because of the many different meanings it carries.
